The scholarship is available to graduates of Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan, who will be pursuing a four-year college degree. Specific requirements include:
1. Academic achievement: A minimum of a cumulative GPA near 3.0 is required
2. Extracurricular activities: Each applicant should be involved in a meaningful extracurricular activity for which he or she is able to demonstrate or develop important life skills (i.e. leadership skills, soft skills, or other relevant experiences to foster personal growth). Recipients need to be able to reference personal experiences and character traits cultivated.
3. Character traits: This is an important aspect of the selection criteria as the scholarship fund targets assisting individuals who embody and demonstrate strong compassion, drive, and a zest for life in supporting others — on any level of scale whether it is in daily interactions with individuals or more broadly serving the community.
Financial need may be a consideration, though it is not a requirement.
While the application is administered through the Rochester Community Schools Foundation website, please note one additional essay is required to be attached to your online application. Please see the “How to Apply” section for the essay prompt which will focus on the character traits of the applicant.
